چکیده

Pedestrians are vulnerable road users exposed at risk during their interaction with vehicles in uncontrolled urban areas. In this paper, a critical overview of the literature and meta-analyses were conducted on topic pedestrian gap acceptance choice midblock street crossings. Α large number studies examining personal contextual factors affecting crossing choices identified. an effort to condense research outputs, quantitative approach was adopted alongside qualitative assessments. Meta-analyses summarize impacts various predictor variables probabilities from binary logistic models locations. After application rigorous set criteria, 14 publications considered appropriate conduct beta coefficients four factors: vehicle speed (VS), size (GS), waiting time (WT) frequency attempts (FA). Statistically significant results obtained for VS, GS FA. Specifically, it determined that one unit increase incoming there is 10% decrease (OR=0.9) odds pedestrians (accepting gap) pedestrians. For temporal GS, become 7.22 times larger each attempt, as measured by FA, 16.6 WT have non-significant impact odds. To best authors' knowledge, first meta-analysis influencing crossings carried out. Study findings useful practitioners policymakers formulate management plans reduce interactions Future needed further understand determinants decision making.
